PIVOT
Participatory GIS and scenario planning for environmental decision-making.
PIVOT is a modular web-based platform for mapping local knowledge, identifying priorities, comparing scenarios, and linking community input with environmental and urban models.
Research focus
PIVOT is designed around a central question: how can community knowledge and preferences be incorporated into environmental planning in a way that is transparent, spatially explicit, and useful for decision-makers?
The platform supports participatory mapping, comparison across places and scenarios, and integration with modeled environmental information.
Applications
PIVOT has been developed for work on flood resilience, climate adaptation, urban planning, and related environmental decision-support applications in Great Lakes communities and East Africa.
